3 Consecutive days starting March 13-15th from 10-5pm. 18 Hour Workshop.
Tuition: $360 (+ materials kit)
Instructor: Nash Quinn
In this 3 day workshop, students will learn about the different varieties of springs and their corresponding functions! Join Nash Quinn as he shows us how we can incorporate springs in small-scale metalwork to add movement and drama, as well as ensure secure and satisfying catches, clasps, and connections. However, since springs generally cannot withstand the heat of soldering, they can often present considerable design and fabrication challenges. The sample projects focus on small-scale spring-loaded toys and containers that snap open and closed utilizing a variety of springs, catches, and mechanisms. Students will gain hands-on experience with sourcing and incorporating commercially-produced springs, as well as making their own custom springs. Soldering tips and tricks and cold-connection strategies will be emphasized. Some experience necessary - students should be able to confidently saw, file, and solder unassisted.
