Chasing & Repoussé - Fabrizio Acquafresca

Chasing & Repoussé in the Italian Style with Fabrizio Acquafresca

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Under the careful tutelage of the Italian master Fabrizio Acquafresca, learn Chasing and Repoussé in the Italian style. Through the proper use of various specialized tools, students study and implement the classical Italian approach to transforming sheet metal into reliefs and other works of art. Students will begin with a ginko leaf relief, but should also come prepared with jewelry designs of their own choosing. These designs may contain fruit, floral patterns (excluding geometric or abstract images) to realize in metal.

This is a two-part course. The Beginner's course has no prerequisites and is open to students of all levels. The Intermediate course is open to students who have taken the Beginner's course.

BEGINNERS: 2 DAY COURSE
This course will consist of two days lesson, of which the first lesson will involve an introduction to the course and the use of the tools, followed by illustration and selection of the different materials.
Students then begin the practical execution through an assigned project; creating a ginko leaf.

INTERMEDIATE: 3 DAY COURSE (2 Options)
1. For students taking only the 3 day course, they will make the ginko leaf and put more focus on how to make it in Fine Silver (.6/.7mm), in a jewelry way: creating a pair of earrings, pendant, or a cup for the more skilled.
2. For the students wanting to take both classes for 5 days, they should come with 2 or 3 projects that we will discuss during the first two days (excluding geometric and abstract projects). It is possible to create several pieces, depending on the complexity of their projects and the student's individual work pace. Anything may be created, including bracelets, earrings and pendants; the possibilities are endless.

During the course, students will receive a lot of one on one attention as Fabrizio visits everyone individually.

Please consider that the contents of individual classes may be changed throughout the course according to the class progress.
