Tracey Carswell has been making art since the first time she had picked up a pencil. Her mother; a teacher, artist and jeweler, encouraged her love of art. In her senior year of high school she had the opportunity to participate in an Arts Magnet program, where she made her first piece of jewelry, carving wax and casting it in silver.
She continued her studies of fine arts at the Maryland Institute College of Art, focusing on sculpture and textile arts. She began to get interested in how materials interact with the body. While studying Fashion Accessory Design at the Miami International University of Art and Design, Tracey found her passion for jewelry making. In 2017, she took her first class at Jewelry Creations Workshop and never left. She now manages the studio, teaches classes, and has her own jewelry line she makes out of JCW. As a third generation artist and educator, being able to give the gift of learning to work with metal is a truly fulfilling part of her life.
