2 Consecutive days starting October 26th - 27th from 10-5pm. 12 Hour Workshop.

Tuition: $360 (+ materials kit)

Instructor: Wayne Werner

In this 2 day workshop, students will explore the basics of synclastic forms for earrings, cuffs, and beyond! Join Wayne Werner as he shows us how to texture, forge and form precious metal into domed shapes producing durable, timeless designs. Students will learn how to add soft and beautiful patterns by texturing the metal via roller printing or hammer patterning. Then heโ€™ll show different examples on how to do synclastic/domed forms using wood and steel dapping blocks as well as hammers and punches. The last step will be satin finishing and edge burnishing to achieve a classic finish. Students can produce one or more pairs of earrings or a cuff to take home. The only requirement is light forging, sawing and some soldering.

What To Bring: Students need to bring a basic tool box with files, sanding sticks, saw frame and blades, pliers and standard tools. Tool rental will also be available for a fee of $50(paid to the studio). Students are recommended to bring their own metal, however, some silver sheets, posts and nuts will be available for purchase from the instructor and/or studio. If bringing your own, silver is recommended, 18-20 gauge metal sheet - 2 1/2 inch x 3 inch should be enough material to produce at least 3-4 pair of earrings (depending on size). If students wish to make a cuff style bracelet bring a 18-20 gauge metal sheet - 1 inch x 6 inch.

Materials Kit Fee: (provided and paid to the instructor)
Material cost for silver earrings is $15-$20 (this includes enough metal for a pair of earrings, 2 posts and 2 nuts). Material cost for the brass or bronze base metal for cuffs is $5-$10 (this includes enough metal for 1 or 2 cuffs).

Prerequisite: Fabrication and Soldering Level 1 or previous experience.
